Looking ahead to breedings for 2010

Well, we have already started on breedings for 2010. 

The 1st premium star mare Lopke D. is in foal to Teade for 2010.  I'm hoping for a colt!  Lopke D. earned 1st premium star as a three year old, was Champion of the Mares and was also overall Champion of the day at keuring as a 3 year old.  Lopke D. will also be presented for premium in an attempt to earn Crown this September.  She is also being prepared to perform the IBOP test this year.  Lopke D. is Mintse X Feitse from the famous line 50.   Lopke D. is not currently being offered for sale as we anxiously await presentation for Crown, IBOP and her 2010 foal. 

Tessa van der Zuiderwaard has been bred to Brend and has been confirmed in foal for 2010.  Yes, I'm going for an approved stallion with this mating!  Tessa is a 1st premium star mare from line 2 and is Tamme X Oege.  The Brandus line with Brend should be an excellent homozygous mating for genetics that will cross well with a large percentage of the mare crop.  Tessa has been an exceptional show mare both under saddle and in harness.  Tessa has also produced an exceptional show gelding with Marwyn of Shady Nook Farm who is the "horse to beat" this year on the east coast with owner's Rein Dancer farms and Meredith Dancer in the irons.  This will be an anxiously awaited foal.   Last year, when Tessa did not have a foal, Tessa adopted a foal from another mare.  Although she did not have milk she gave the foal all the attention and love she had.  Tessa has "a heart of gold".  Tessa's 2009 filly by Ulbert is for sale...but; let's just say if you want a cheap one you shouldn't be looking at her!  Magnificent filly by Ulbert with refinement, elegance and superior movement. Tessa is not being offered for sale. 

Lilly has been bred to Brend and is confirmed in foal for 2010.  Lilly is the daughter of Tessa so this is also the van der Zuiderwaard mare line.  Lilly is Ielke X Tamme from mare line 2.  I'm also breeding for an approved stallion with this homozygous mating.  Lilly will be presented for her star this September at keuring.  Lilly has now produced 2 exceptional foals (Cierda x Wander in 2008 and Douke X Mintse 2009) and we look forward to the Brend foal in 2010 as well.   Lilly's foals are both offered for sale....we raise them to sell them.   I would like to wait on offering Lilly for sale until after she is presented for her ster and she produces the foal by Brend.
