Dan Hermann arrives as the new farm manager

11/30/2008

In August, 2008 recruitment of Dan Hermann is completed and Dan is scheduled to attend the World IFSHA show with Shady Nook Farm and begin as the full-time farm manager immediately following the World Show.  Dan has over 35 years of experience working with horses.  His achievements include a Master's degree in Equine Science, breeding/foaling/artificial insemination experience, training of horses in numerous disciplines, horse farm management and lessons in several disciplines.   Most recently Dan has managed/operated the Forest Gate Friesian operation in Flat Rock, North Carolina.  While at Forest Gate, Dan travelled to The Netherlands for selection/purchase and import of young breeding stock and young horses to train and resell.  Dan also has prepared and presented many Friesian horses for keuring predicates.  Changes are currently under way at Shady Nook Farm.  One of the first changes is construction of stalls to allow for on-site training of the Friesians here.  The work arena, long ago constructed, is back in shape and is now being used routinely.  It was the dream of Pam and Bill Jackson to produce high quality foals and to start these foals here at the farm.   The show horses will continue to go to show barns through out the show season as we will be busy foaling/rebreeding during the show season.  One of the goals of Shady Nook Farm is to have numerous young horses on-site that are going well under saddle/driving for purchase consideration by clients.  Shady Nook Farm will continue to be heavily involved in breeding, keurings and the show circuit.  We look forward to meeting new Friesian enthusiasts and we look forward to the 2009 spring crop of four new foals.  Shady Nook Farm does have numerous Friesians available for purchase.  These horses are of varying ages and levels of training.   Shady Nook horses have been carefully selected and bred to be Modern, athletic perfomers while careful attention is paid to retaining the true type of the Friesian breed with thick hair and the fabulous disposition that drew many of us to the Friesian breed.  Please call and come by and meet us and the Friesians of Shady Nook Farm.   Dan
