Maurice van de Zuiderwaard

Ster

Sire: Leffert 306  | Dam: Itske-Tina van de Zuiderwaard, ster
DamSire: Oege 267  | Stam: 2

Maurice, Leffert x Oege, is a brother to our Saddle Seat Champion mare, Tessa. The familial connection is very close since they both have the same mother, Itske-Tina van de Zuiderwaard Star, and Leffert is the son of Tessa’s father, Tamme. These van de Zuiderwaard horses are from one of the oldest stams, Stam 2, which dates from 1885.  This line has proven to be horses of excellent quality and willing dispositions and we are very excited to add Maurice to our farm.

Each year the KFPS judges approximately 450 young stallions for possible breeding right approval. Maurice was in the group of 84 stallions that were worthy of presentation at the 2007 Stallion Keuring in Holland. He was awarded Ster status and was within the final group of 50 horses.

Maurice showed at several shows in 2008 in harness and did very well.  We also showed Maurice in harness this spring and again he did well.  Maurice debuted under saddle at the Blue Ridge Show this July.  He absolutely loved showing under saddle.  His next show will be the IFSHA Championships in late October held in St. Louis.  Maurice was shown by a juvenile exhibitor and is ready for your rider.  Maurice is a very sporty and athletic horse with a lot of sense and exciting ring presence.  Please contact Dan directly for inquiries.

Maurice showed in harness at the Georgia National Fair and won his class with amateur/owner/driver Bill Jackson on the lines.  Maurice also showed in the saddleseat walk-trot class and again he was victorious.  The next show was the Clemson Fall Show where Maurice showed in the Saddleseat walk-trot class and won both the qualifying class and the Championship with Dan Hermann in the irons.  I look forward to continuing to show Maurice in 2010 and the Pro-Am show in late March will most likely be our first show of the year.
